Does HAW have a school board?
Yes, Horizon Academy West (HAW) is governed by (at minimum) a
nine member governing council. The voting members are comprised
of parents of students, and other community stakeholders. The
non-voting members include our Director, Principal, Family and
Community Engagement Coordinator and a Teacher. The Governing

We are honored to be one of the first charter schools to be
authorized by the New Mexico Public Education Commission
(NMPEC). In order to
become authorized by the NMPEC, our council was also required to
become certified as a board of finance. Our governing council is enormously proud of the successes HAW has had. We are pleased to team up with the Administration, faculty, staff, and our parents to continue that success into the future. We welcome involvement by the entire school community, so please come to our meetings, see what is going on at the school behind the scenes, sign-up for public forum and give us your opinions and suggestions!

The Governing Council welcomes
input from all stakeholders in the Horizon Academy West
community. Please feel free to contact any member of the Council
via email or by leaving a message at the school. Any complaints
regarding specific employees must be made using the formal
complaint, concern and inquiry (CCI) process as outlined in the
CCI form provided on the Governing Council documents page.
